Aid of 3,800 francs, paid to cultural workers affected by the crisis for five months. With this proposal, the Zurich state councilor Jacqueline Fehr hoped to create a “Zurich model” of cultural aid. But today, faced with Bern’s refusal, his project is at an impasse and the Zurich example shows above all the difficulty of the cantons in finding rapid aid solutions.
Behind the fight between Zurich and Bern is expressed in the background the criticism of the urban cantons with regard to the compensation model for loss of income intended for cultural workers, considered too slow and unsuitable. Simplifying administrative procedures is also one of the demands of cultural circles which these days meet under the slogan “No culture, no future”.
