Palestinians in Gaza are now locked in a double lock. They who were already under blockade since 2007 have been confined since Wednesday due to a peak in coronavirus contamination. The picture offered by the coastal strip is bleak: nearly 40% of positive tests, hospital infrastructures in a disastrous state, endemic overcrowding and misery.
In this context, the announcement on the same day of the 150 million dollars donated by the United States to UNRWA, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, is timely. “It gives people a little hope, we tell ourselves that help will eventually arrive,” said a resident of Gaza.
