This is the story of one of the most secret American multinationals, valued at 55 billion dollars on the stock market and which now wants to deploy its activities in Switzerland. This giant is Palantir, a company at the forefront of data analysis. This week, the Professional journal revealed that Palantir wanted to establish a European center in the canton of Schwyz. This development of activities in Switzerland is an opportunity to focus on a company with a sulphurous reputation, in particular because of its links with the authorities and the American army.
Schwyz, and more precisely the city of Altendorf, should host Palantir’s European headquarters in the coming months. The multinational, whose world headquarters are based in Denver, Colorado, should recruit between 20 and 40 highly qualified engineers, according to the German-speaking media. The company has more than 2000 in the world. If Alex Karp, managing director of the company, chose Schwyz, it would not be only because he appreciates the region for winter sports: the company wants to take advantage of a cluster for health technologies and l artificial intelligence that has formed in the Pfäffikon, Altendorf and Lachen region in recent years. The proximity to Zurich also played a role, but not the local taxation, according to the Professional journal.
