The Federal Council still silent on Europe

As was to be expected, the Federal Council has not communicated anything new on its strategy in the matter of the institutional agreement with the EU. He did not even confirm the date of April 23 as that of a probable meeting between the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and her Swiss counterpart, Guy Parmelin.

Technical discussions are over. Switzerland attempted an “immunization strategy” which consisted in remaining sovereign on the three controversial points of the protection of wages, state aid and the resumption of European citizenship. In all likelihood, Secretary of State Livia Leu returned more or less empty-handed from Brussels.
