The doubts of the Geneva left around Fabienne Fischer

The election of the Green Fabienne Fischer to the Geneva Council of State seemed, at first glance, to be child’s play. United and disciplined left, scattered right as usual; the ideal configuration to shift the majority in the Council of State.

But that was before the surprising result of Pierre Maudet in the first round, and the irruption of a racing car on the track, the young, conquering and uninhibited president of the PDC, Delphine Bachmann. With 29.8% in the first round – a score well below the 34% achieved by the left in the federal elections – Fabienne Fischer, although still favorite, has nothing to rest easy.
