A missed opportunity, but not a big surprise. Philipp Hildebrand, the Swiss candidate for the post of secretary general of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) threw in the towel Thursday evening. He regretted on Twitter that he had not managed to mobilize broad support from the 37 members of the organization. At the last consultation, his candidacy had, according to our sources, the support of only three countries, namely Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland.
