A former Gunvor employee has pleaded guilty to corruption before the American justice system in connection with an investigation linked to the Ecuadorian state-owned company Petroecuador. RK (his name is known to the editors) on Tuesday admitted paying $ 22 million in bribes to officials in Ecuador to secure contracts from the oil company.
The 60-year-old Canadian admitted to having paid bribes from 2012 to 2020 with two consultants. RK was employed by Gunvor until 2018 before being appointed by the company as a consultant. The initial complaint of the American justice dates from August 2020 but it has just been made public.
