In Spain, an electoral campaign plagued by hatred

Three letters of death threats turned a placid election campaign into a fight of rare vehemence. With the approach of the anticipated legislative elections of May 4 in the Region of Madrid – the richest in the country – the atmosphere has become unbreathable, to the point that the main parties are now refusing to speak to each other. Two important debates scheduled for this week on public channel RTVE and on private television Sexta have been canceled. All the left-wing parties demand that the formation of the ultra-right Vox be marginalized, and be the subject of a “cordon sanitaire”.
