Not long ago, the first serial Su-57 fighter jet was demonstrated in real conditions. While more planes of the same type are expected this year, the Su-57 has features that are as impressive as they are terrifying.

Faster than the US Navy F-35

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is a Russian consortium created by current President Vladimir Poutine in 2006. It includes the country’s main civilian and military aircraft manufacturers, including Sukhoi. Now this company is at the origin of the Su-57, a fifth generation futuristic aircraft. In a video visible at the end of the article, the images show the first production aircraft of this model in action, two decades after the start of its development.

The Sukhoi Su-57 has a very wide airfoil and a slightly angular nose giving it a little resemblance to the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II of the US Navy. On the speed side, if the US aircraft has a maximum speed of 1,930 km / h, the Su-57 is capable of spinning at 2,600 km / h ! Let us also mention its range of 1,750 kilometers and its ascent rate of 21,000 meters per minute.

Moreover, the Su-57 can – just like its American and Chinese counterparts (J-20) move stealthily. The device is in fact equipped with a coating of which the composite material is synonymous with quasi-invisibility facing enemy radars.

Combat level, the range of the Su-58 is varied since it is able to hit targets in the air, on the ground or on the water. Above all, the fighter plane in question can carry the Kinjal missile. It’s about hypersonic aero-ballistic air-to-ground missile high precision that Vladimir Putin unveiled in 2018.

Another major specificity: the Su-57 is a single-seater, but does include two pilots. In addition to the human pilot, the aircraft embeds an artificial intelligence coupled to a connected digital control system. the fact is that the cockpit of the aircraft is automated to the maximum. The goal? Make the human pilot fully concentrate on his mission. The latter manually manages takeoff and landing, but then becomes a simple co-pilot of the machine. Obviously – and this seems essential, the pilot can take back control at any time if needed.

Initially, this first device will be used to train instructors who in turn will train future pilots. However, you should know that four other Su-57sshould arrive in the course of the year 2021. In total, the Russian armed forces will receive 76 machines, enough to equip three aviation regiments.
