Blow of bag! The pandemic continues to disrupt the cultural calendar. The Cannes Film Festival is moving its dates from May to July (6-17), followed by the Friborg International Film Festival which, in the face of uncertainties, postpones its 35th edition from March to July also (from 16 to 25). “Everything digital is not in our philosophy”, recalls Thierry Jobin, who forged his cinephilia in the hollow of dark rooms. In plan C, all online, the artistic director prefers plan B, which favors the collective experience. The structure of the festival, its financial base and the flexibility of the team allow this temporal translation despite everything “quite rock’n’roll”. The change of dates only entails an additional cost of 25,000 francs. The shortfall, linked to a limited number of places, is of the order of 100,000 to 150,000 francs.
