“Bridgerton”, the Netflix series that erases racial inequalities

Will series fans have jumped on their sofa? Bridgerton, new serial hit by Netflix, probably does not shine by its originality. Not very exciting a priori in this sentimental series of good tone set in English high society at the beginning of the 19th century. If the series is nevertheless talked about outside the specialized pages, it is for its daring interpretation of the rules of casting. Its designers have in fact chosen to entrust some of the key roles of this white history at will to actors of color, even at the risk of inflicting a serious twist on history, the English aristocracy of the Regency did not being hardly noted for its openness to the multicultural realities of today’s world.
