He is one of the rare good pupils in the eyes of Switzerland in the field of migration. Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter was in Nigeria on Tuesday to praise the migration partnership with the most populous country in Africa. This cooperation celebrated its 10th anniversary. This justifies the visit of the Swiss Minister responsible for the Department of Justice and Police in Abudja. Bern has similar migration partnerships with five other countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Sri Lanka and Tunisia.
This collaboration with Nigeria had started following a tragic event: the death in March 2010 of a Nigerian at Zurich airport when he was about to be deported. Special flights to Nigeria were then suspended. To convince Nigerians to continue to take back their nationals, Switzerland had broadened its migration cooperation with the authorities in Abudja.
