The term “sport”, an English term derived from Old French “desport” meaning “entertainment, physical or spiritual pleasure”, has abandoned the general notion of leisure to focus solely on physical and mental activities. The 20th century marks the birth of sports competition as it is practiced today, with its laws, regulations and standards. Sporting behavior is educated through the values of sport such as giving its maximum, knowing how to make efforts, being rigorous in practice.
It is important to train future athletes in this sporting attitude called fair play, in other words sportsmanship, fair play and sportsmanship. The term sportsmanship refers to two aspects, on the one hand to the interest one has in sport and on the other, more important here, to the notion of a loyal spirit in the practice of sport.
